“Coach” Dave Davis

Dave Davis, M. Ed. served as the advisor of the longest-running student-produced newscast in the country, founded in 1989 at Hillcrest high school in Springfield, Missouri.

Dave was Springfield Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 2009 and was honored as a Distinguished Broadcast Adviser by the Journalism Education Association in 2015.

He is the only educator to ever be inducted into the Emmy Silver Circle, the Mid-American Emmy’s highest honor recognizing lifetime achievement. This video includes his induction presentation and reception speech.
