Objective
This assignment demonstrates a student’s ability to make creative decisions in an edit, avoid obvious production mistakes, and polish raw footage and sound into a final product. This is a difficult and comprehensive assignment. It could serve as a semester final or major class project.
Points to emphasize
Watch all the footage before you start editing.
Make sure your edits have continuity. If you are doing it right, you shouldn’t notice the edit.
Complete your sound mix and color correction last.
Equipment: Computer, editing software, headphones.
ASSIGNMENT
Edit the raw footage and sound files into a polished, final edit, no longer than 3 minutes.
Variation: Supply students with a music tracks or sound effects to add to their project.

Keep in mind there is no one “correct” way to edit this footage. You can decide how precisely the students must stick to the supplied script. This is just one example of how to edit this footage.
