ASB Classroom Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2025
Thank you for being part of the ASB Classroom community. This Privacy Policy explains how ASB Classroom, LLC (“ASB Classroom,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our website asbclassroom.com and related services (the “Services”). If you have questions, email support@scholasticbroadcasting.com.
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
1) What information we collect
Information you provide. When you create a teacher account, request a quote, complete a purchase, join our teacher community, submit support requests, or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect your name, school or organization, job title, email address, postal address, and any message content. If you purchase, payment details are processed by our payment provider (see “How we share information”).
Payment information. We do not store full card numbers. Payments are handled by our payment processor (e.g., Stripe) which collects necessary information to complete the transaction.
Automatically collected information. When you use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, time on site, referring URLs, and general location derived from IP (city/state level). We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for functionality, analytics, and—only for teachers—limited marketing. See “Cookies & similar technologies” below.
No student accounts. Students access content using a password provided by their teacher and do not create authenticated student accounts on our website.
Information from third parties. If you connect or sign in via a third party (e.g., Google), we receive information that service shares with us (such as your name and email) to set up your account. We may also receive purchasing or contact details from your school when they issue a purchase order.
2) How we use information
We use information to:
provide, operate, and improve the Services;
create and manage accounts;
process subscriptions, orders, and purchase orders;
provide teacher community access and support;
communicate about features, updates, policy changes, and administrative matters;
send optional product news and educational resources (you can unsubscribe anytime);
personalize teacher-facing content and measure site performance;
maintain safety, prevent fraud or misuse, and enforce our Terms;
comply with legal obligations.
Education-specific commitments. We do not use student interaction with our content for targeted advertising and we do not build profiles on students. Where applicable, we act as a “school official” under FERPA when a school engages us to provide services and we handle education records only to provide the Services to the school and as permitted by law and contract.
3) Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)
Where required by the GDPR/UK GDPR, we process personal data based on: (a) performance of a contract (providing the Services), (b) our legitimate interests (e.g., security, service improvement), (c) your consent (e.g., certain cookies/marketing), and/or (d) legal obligations.
4) How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described below:
Service providers. We use trusted vendors to host, operate, and improve the Services and to process payments, analytics, video delivery, email communications, and community functions. Typical categories include: hosting/content delivery, analytics, payment processing (e.g., Stripe), email and community platforms, video hosting/streaming, customer support tools, and document storage. These providers may access information only to perform services for us and must protect it.
School relationships. If your access is provided through a school or district, we may share necessary information with the school (e.g., license status, usage necessary to support administration).
Business transfers. If we undergo a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all/part of our business, information may be transferred.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or respond to lawful requests.
5) Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for core functionality (e.g., login), analytics, and limited teacher-facing marketing. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some browsers and extensions support the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal; where legally required, we treat a valid GPC as a request to opt out of “sale”/“sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6) Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, including to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify information. If deletion is not immediately possible (for example, in backups), we will securely store and isolate it until deletion is feasible.
7) Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we process. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You use the Services at your own risk and should access them within a secure environment.
8) Children & students
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (U.S.) or under the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction without appropriate consent. Students do not create accounts on our website; they access content with a password provided by their instructor. If you believe we have collected information from a child in error, contact support@scholasticbroadcasting.com and we will promptly delete it.
9) Your privacy choices & rights
Email communications. You can unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time via the link in the email or by contacting us.
Cookie controls. Use your browser settings to manage cookies; certain features may not function without essential cookies.
Account information. Teachers can review and update account details by logging into their account. To request deletion, contact us. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
U.S. state privacy rights (CA/CPRA, CO, CT, VA, UT). Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, or to opt out of processing for targeted advertising or certain profiling. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a right or to appeal a decision, email support@scholasticbroadcasting.com. If you send a GPC signal, we will treat it as an opt-out of “sale”/“sharing” where required.
California disclosures. We disclose the categories of personal information we collect, the sources, purposes, and sharing practices in this Policy. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit under the CPRA. California residents may exercise rights described above and may designate an authorized agent by providing written authorization; we will verify requests.
EEA/UK rights. Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10) Do Not Track
There is no consistent industry standard for responding to browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals; at this time we do not respond to DNT. We do honor Global Privacy Control as described above where required.
11) International transfers
If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries that may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for cross-border transfers.
12) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, if changes are material, we may provide additional notice (e.g., by email or a prominent notice on our site). Please review this Policy periodically.
