Summary: This curriculum guide for Broadcast I, a project-based course for students in grades 10-12, is designed to teach essential skills in visual and audio storytelling, video production, and editing utilizing the resources available inside ASB Classroom.
Students will progress from foundational concepts like interviewing, camera basics (WMT, sequences, composition, WALLDO), and initial editing skills, to more advanced broadcast journalism elements such as silent videos, chase scenes, VOSOTs, and stand-ups. The course culminates in producing formal interviews, full broadcast news or feature stories, anchoring a magazine-style show, creating podcasts, and music videos, all while emphasizing communication, collaboration, and critical thinking to produce media packages for various audiences.
