Objective
This assignment teaches students how to identify and build sequences from available shots.

Points to emphasize

  • Sequences create the illusion of continuous action.

  • Sequences are made of wide, medium, and tight shots.

  • Pay attention to continuity and matched action. Avoid jump cuts.

  • Timing matters. Every shot has a beginning, middle, and end.

  • Listen to the nat sound in the b-roll.

Assignment

Students use the supplied b-roll from the National Audio raw footage pack to build three separate sequences from three different stages of cassette tape manufacturing.
