Exercises

Students hunt through the raw footage to build a sequence of familiar shot types.

In this exercise, students learn how to marry two separate sound bites and hide the resulting jump cut with b-roll.

In this fun and challenging exercise, students watch an edit of the Pineapple Whip story and try to recreate the edit using the same raw footage.

ASSIGNMENTS

Students use only the clips available in the raw footage pack to create a 30 second commercial for Pineapple Whip.

Difficulty: Intermediate
Groups: 1-2

Students choose a sound bite, write a voice over introducing the sound bite, and cover the voice over with relevant b-roll.

Difficulty: Intermediate
Groups: 1-2

Students use sound bites and b-roll from the raw footage pack to construct a nat sound package. A nat sound package is a documentary-style video that does not use any reporter voice over.
